W-I-K-I-P-E-D-I-A ??? Heard of it ????

Wikipedia !!! What is it and what comes to mind when you heard of it ?? Think it for a second and proceed reading.

For mi, the foremost thing comes to mi mind is "FREE ENCYCLOPEDIA". Do you agree ?
When i googled for "history of wikipedia", the first link that comes is " History of Wikipedia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ".When i read through the article, i came across the follog points:

• a project to produce a free content encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone
  
• quickly replaced Nupedia
• Wikipedia was launched on its own domain, wikipedia.com, on January 15
• Google, which alone sent hundreds of new visitors to the site every day
